So last night I finished Black and Blue by Gena Showalter. Let me tell you it was a HOT book! Wow-zer! I mean delish! I only had one problem with the whole book. But I'll get to that later.
So, you have Evie Black, a cocky black ops agent, that makes a mistake and gets someone she loves killed, and then quits her black ops job and doesn't let go of the "its all my fault" guilt. She does a black ops job with Corbin Blue, an other worlder football player to society, but who she knows is a secret black ops agent as well; which doesn't go well for Corbin, because Evie takes matter into her own hands and finishes the job herself. So they have this I hate you but your still sexy as hell relationship. After the job ends they part ways. Corbin has to lead this sort of double life where he pretends that the affairs he's forced to have because of his black ops position have society thinking he is a heartbreaking two timing play boy. But he wants someone to see that there's more to him then that.
Eventually something happens ( I say something because I'm not into spoilers, I despise when people do that, it just ruins everything. ) and they are forced to work together once again. They fight their mutual attraction, which to me is the best part, because when they finally give in, it's like the finale at the fourth of July fireworks show! It's awesome! Ladies, if you read romance, or are into paranormal romance, then you are gonna love this, it has you breathless, and even possibly wondering when the last time you felt something like this was. They have to fight together to save people they care about, try to fight their attraction, before they both get killed.
All in all this book was awesome. Kept me turning the pages, I was only interrupted once, which kept me away from the book for a few hours, but the good thing was when I cracked it back open, the words flowed so easily that I was able to quickly lose myself in the story again, remembering all the previous happenings. The thing I love about Miss Showalter is how well her chapters flow, how well the characters move together, how they inter-twine with each other. You don't hear much mention of either of these characters in any of her previous books. In fact I don't remember Evie Black at all, I do recall snippets of Corbin Blue references in a couple of previous books, so I was excited to see that Corbin got his own story actually. At first I was like this isn't the same Corbin Blue that was in the other books is it? Turns out, yeah it is, and I was stoked.
So I'm just reading along, and I get to the last few pages, and all of a sudden the story starts being rushed. Felt like maybe Miss Showalter rushed to finish the last few pages, or the editor cut out a lot of the ending to make the book so many words. I think if the last part, particularly the part about who they saved was a little more descriptive, maybe from the characters point of view, then I think that it would have flowed better, and not felt as rushed to me. It was like I was super speed reading through the last three pages.
So honestly I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes paranormal romance, some of the scenes where very hot. But the best part was the anticipation the author gave the reader!
I give it 4.8 Stars!

So, It took me a little longer to finish ICED then I expected. With 6 kids, house work, workouts, laundry, and cooking, I didn't have a lot of time to sit down and read the book in one sitting! But I did finish it. And I'll tell you I both loved and hated this book.
This is another addition to the Fever series. But it's Dani O'Malley's story. I loved Dani in the Fever series, so I was really excited to be reading the start of her story. Dani is a strong, cocky, 14 year old girl on a path to find herself. She considers herself the super heroine of the times, saving people from all the bad guys, and keeping them informed. I love her energetic nature, and the fact that she doesn't put up with bullshit from anyone. Her self-assured-ness gives me pleasure to read. She is in an awkward place in her life, transforming from a girl into a woman. She had a best friend who found out in the last Fever book that Dani killed her twin sister. So she longs for the friendship, but knows that it has ended. She keeps herself from mentioning her friends name, but feels the pain of her loss.
Her self appointed protectors give a dark edge to the book that I love. They both can see the woman she will eventually become if she can keep herself alive long enough. This book has drama, action, camaraderie, pain, and heart and soul.
The ending left me a little peeved though. It just stopped. I didn't feel the smooth finish I've come to know from Miss Moning, but maybe she had a reason for it. I felt like it could have gone on a little further, like there was something more that could have been added to give it that smooth finish, while also leaving you waiting for the next one. While this book left me breathless with anticipation of the next Dani "Mega" O'Malley book, I'm hoping Miss Moning will give it a smooth finish, and an explosive start.
I will recommend this a read for anyone who is a fan of Paranormal books. This doesn't have romance, well because the main character is a 14 year old girl, and that'd just be weird! But all in all, it was a def must read for me! So I highly recommend it! I give it a 4.5 stars!!!
NEXT UP: Black and Blue by Gena Showalter.

What I'm About
Here on this blog I will be doing nothing but book reviews. I'll review anything from sci-fi, to paranormal, to western, to well just about anything. I won't be sugar coating anything I liked or didn't like about each book I review. If I like it enough I'll recommend it to anyone who reads the blog! If you have a book you want me to review just post it in a comment. I'll be posting the first review tomorrow! I'm reading a book called ICED by Karen Marie Moning!
