So, It took me a little longer to finish ICED then I expected. With 6 kids, house work, workouts, laundry, and cooking, I didn't have a lot of time to sit down and read the book in one sitting! But I did finish it. And I'll tell you I both loved and hated this book.
This is another addition to the Fever series. But it's Dani O'Malley's story. I loved Dani in the Fever series, so I was really excited to be reading the start of her story. Dani is a strong, cocky, 14 year old girl on a path to find herself. She considers herself the super heroine of the times, saving people from all the bad guys, and keeping them informed. I love her energetic nature, and the fact that she doesn't put up with bullshit from anyone. Her self-assured-ness gives me pleasure to read. She is in an awkward place in her life, transforming from a girl into a woman. She had a best friend who found out in the last Fever book that Dani killed her twin sister. So she longs for the friendship, but knows that it has ended. She keeps herself from mentioning her friends name, but feels the pain of her loss.
Her self appointed protectors give a dark edge to the book that I love. They both can see the woman she will eventually become if she can keep herself alive long enough. This book has drama, action, camaraderie, pain, and heart and soul.
The ending left me a little peeved though. It just stopped. I didn't feel the smooth finish I've come to know from Miss Moning, but maybe she had a reason for it. I felt like it could have gone on a little further, like there was something more that could have been added to give it that smooth finish, while also leaving you waiting for the next one. While this book left me breathless with anticipation of the next Dani "Mega" O'Malley book, I'm hoping Miss Moning will give it a smooth finish, and an explosive start.
I will recommend this a read for anyone who is a fan of Paranormal books. This doesn't have romance, well because the main character is a 14 year old girl, and that'd just be weird! But all in all, it was a def must read for me! So I highly recommend it! I give it a 4.5 stars!!!
